Cold Spring Harbor

I love the feel of a small town. The kind where people say hello, offer a kind smile. Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of City life, smiles are only given when paid for.

Cold Spring Harbor is not of those places. It is quaint and lovely. The smell of fresh air and small shops aligned down a long stretch of road gives a feel of a town with some real history. Which it does.

This fire house was the town’s first fire house, chosen in 1896!

This lovely fire truck has a working horn and, yes I got to honk the horn!

image

The town’s first ‘fire truck’ used in the days before the civil war! The men used to pull this bad boy by hand. Incredible.

Hiya boys!

After our history lesson, we did what any girl would do..shop!

I purchased this lovely print after reading its beautiful quote. This is great gift for someone going through a difficult time and a great reminder to live life to its fullest.

A similar print can also be found here: ‘Living Life’

I also popped into this adorable little shop..

Rainy Tuesday.

NYC. You’re bringing me down.

It’s raining in NYC today so on days like today, I like to think of sunnier days!

Two weekends ago, on a lovely sunnySunday, there was a little street fair happening.

I perused the selection of bags, but nothing stuck out at me.

Feeling a little hungry, I came across this:

image

Wafels and icecream you say?

image

image

A fabulous street vendor that makes its way into the City offers delicious waffles. You get to choose what toppings you want and can even add icecream. Their website can be found here: wafels and dinges

I ended up getting the Belgian waffle with some bananas and maple syrup, topped off with some powder sugar.

It hit my sweet spot for sure.

After I devoured the waffle, I had to burn it off somehow so I ended up doing a little ‘window’ shopping.

Went into a little antique shop and came across this little gem.

This beauty was being sold for appx. $1000! Lovely Indian piece of history.

Lovely flowers someone planted.

I ended my stroll with a bouquet of my own..

Add a little ‘sun’ in your life..

I always appreciate a lovely day, no matter how mundane it may seem.

How do you spend a great day outside?

Escape.

Sometimes, one just needs to get away.

For me, escaping the chaos and noise of the City for the quiet and solace of the countryside typically does the trick!

Instead of concrete pavement, I get this:

image

wide open spaces..

In place of congested highways and large monsters called buildings,

image

grr.

These giants reign over the land..

image

…I even get to play farmer…

image

Meet Ruby and Brownie!

She approves of the country too..

image

“Weeee!”

Weekend gateways are always welcomed and lovely.

Where is your favorite escape?

Never Forget.

image

Never forget those who lost their lives nor those who lost theirs trying to save others. Life is so fragile and finite. Let it be a reminder not to lament but
to live life the way we ought. Love more, forgive more, laugh more, try more, be more. Live more. Don’t let your life be in vain. x
